Grinning, kindly, well-meaning
An older man, Benn was known as one of the more progressive barons… until he decided to abolish the very title of baron and emancipate all of his serfs, allowing the conduct of free and open elections. However, the popularity of the decision led him to be elected as the first independent minister of his barony, thus allowing him to effectively preserve his station. He is a keen reformer, and does not believe the Duke to be doing enough to emancipate the serfs.
Unsurprisingly, he has few allies amongst the nobility, but he has the love of the common folk, and is thus understood to be an extremely influential (and dangerous) fellow.
